1.2 Serowe Admin Authority

Serowe Administrative Authority forms part of Central District and is one of the Serowe Sub-District Councils and it is housing the Head Quarters of Central District Council. Serowe Administrative Authority was established after dividing Serowe/Palapye Sub District because of its unmanageable size that rendered planning ineffective, with the intention to expedite service delivery. Serowe is one of the major villages in Botswana and it is the fourth largest settlement (Population and Housing Census, 2011).

1.1.1 Profile of Serowe Admin Authority

Serowe is located in the Eastern Region of Botswana approximately 44 kilometres to Palapye which connects the North and South of the country. The village is linked to the North through A14 Road (200 km to Orapa) which traverses the village and borders service areas such as Paje, Mmashoro and Malatswai. It is also traversed by B145 Road leading to one of the Major Villages - Molepolole which is approximately 300 km away linking with Mogorosi, Thabala, Motshegaletau, Sehunuo, Mabuo and Moiyabana. The sub district also services Mabeleapodi, Tshimoyapula, Dimajwe and Majwanadipitse villages.  Serowe Village was declared planning area on the 18th April, 1995 and there has been tremendous increase in the population over years and rapid spatial growth and developments in the village.    
 The Serowe Admin Authority has a number of attractions areas such as wildlife and fauna (Khama Rhino), archaeological sites monuments, recreation activities (Stadium), heritage sites, museums and a rich cultural history.
The major business opportunities in Serowe Admin Authority are commercial beef production, tourism-related accommodation facilities, arts and crafts and property development (LEA, 2014).
