SERVICE DESCRIPTION

AIMS

The collection and Disposal of stray livestock in Tribal territories and elsewhere and to provide for matters incidental to.

  1. To ensure that Matimela animals are reported by any person who finds and know Matimela to be Matimela within one month

  1. To ensure that Matimela animals are collected and impounded in Matimela kraals

  1. To ensure that the Council and the Public are notified of the presence of Matimela impounded within a specified statutory period

  1. To ensure that all Matimela impounded are accurately registered bearing serial numbers in kraal books

  1. To ensure that all Matimela impounded are marked with a distinctive Council brand in not less than 30 days

  1. To ensure that all Matimela that have not been claimed after the lapse of 6 months advertised and sold 6 months are by Public auction or to Botswana Meat Commission

  1. To ensure that sustenance and handling fee is charged to claimants and paid into Council Revenue

before the release of any impounded Matimela

  1. To ensure that any Matimela suffering from a contagious disease, or likely to prove dangerous to

human life or destructive to other animals are destroyed in the prescribed statutory manner

  1. To enter upon any land for the purpose of ascertaining whether any Matimela are there, if found seize

such Matimela and take them to Matimela kraals

WHERE DO YOU GET THE SERVICE

  1. Council Matimela premises

REQUIREMENTS FOR OBTAINING THE SERVICE

  1. Valid brand certificate

  2. Valid identity card of the owner

  3. Affidavit if you sent someone certified copies of omang card and brand certificate from the owner and the envoy.

HOW DO YOU LODGE COMPLAINT

  1. Inform the relevant officer verbally.

  2. Write to the chief executive officer if not satisfied

HOW DO YOU RECOVER MATIMELA

  1. Visit council Matimela offices and kraals

  2. Listen to radio Botswana (RB 1) every Sunday at 07.30 evening

HOW DO YOU REPORT MATIMELA

1. Any person who finds Matimela knowing them to be matimela shall report them to his nearest matimela officer, assistant matimela officer, chief, sub chief or headman within one month.

2. Any chief, sub chief or headman who receives a report of matimela to him /her shall pass it to the nearest assistant Matimela officer or matimela within 30 days of receiving such report.

3. A Matimela officer upon reciept of reported matimela shall pass it to council within 30 days of receiving such report.

4. The council shall collect reported matimela within 30 days of receiving such report.

HOW MUCH DO YOU PAY FOR THE SERVICE

Handling and sustenance fee

  1. Cattle – P2.50 per herd per day

  2. Small stock(goats, sheep & pigs) P1.50 per herd per day

  3. Donkeys, horses and mules (P1.50 per herd per day
